Before coming to VTI, I worked as a software quality engineer at Red Hat. Prior to that, I was a postdoc at Umeå University working with Klas Markström. I did my PhD in enumerative combinatorics at The Open University (2015–2018). A draft of my thesis is here. My supervisor was Robert Brignall. Before The Open University, I did masters by research at Warwick with Oleg Pikhurko. My work was mostly based on flag algebra method (see the paper). Before that, I spent the first half of 2013 in South Korea as an assistant engineer in Samsung Electronics. At the end of 2012, I spent 3 months at the Max-Planck Institute for Informatics with Benjamin Doerr, Karl Bringmann, and Adrian Neumann looking into optimal online checkpointing (see the paper). In 2012, I did an MSc in Applicable Maths at the LSE, with a thesis on flag algebras (supervised by Jozef Skokan). I did my undergraduate degree in Maths at Jacobs University in Bremen.

During my time at Jacobs, I did various projects at various places. The one at CREEM with Steve Buckland on estimating population abundance of cryptic animal species (rodents!) was definitely the most fun of them all. I also visited Max-Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, where I looked at the patterns in coefficients of certain classes of cyclotomic polynomials (supervised by Pieter Moree).
